Site Title

Gammon Head
Devon
A long walk and a climb is required to get to Gammon Head but the rewards can make the effort worth it. Specimen Bullhuss and Conger Eels can be taken here.
Tackle
Stiff action rods with a bit of back bone capable of bullying fish from snags are required. Rigs should be kept simple, I like using the Varivas three way swivels sold by Veals as they are extremely strong & have smooth rotation, hook lengths tend to be made from 150lb Varivas rig nylon and termiinated with a 7/0 Big Mouth Extras. A 6 oz plain lead should be connected to the bottom eye of the swivel using a length of 35lb line with over hand knots in it to act as a rotton bottom. Fast retrieve reels such as the Daiwa Saltist range loaded with 35lb mainline will suffice.
Bait
Squid, Launce, Mackerel, Herring & Garfish will catch here, a favourite cocktail of mine for the Bullhuss is half a Launce wrapped in Squid.
