Sea Fishing
South West
South West Beach Marks
Chesil Beach,
Dorset
Site Title

The vast Chesil Beach stretches for some 17 miles from West Bay to Portland, there are many marks along it's length these include Cogdon, West Bexington, Abbotsbury & Ferrybridge. Some require a long walk over shingle unless you have access to a dinghy to cross the fleet.
Tackle
Standard beach rods capable of casting 5- 6oz are required, reels such as the Daiwa 7HT range loaded with 15-18lb mainline & 60lb leader will suffice.
Rigs will depend on what you want to target, in general I tend to use 1 or 2 hook clipped down traces with size 1's for the flatfish, bream etc and pulley rigs with 4/0's for the Cod and Ray.
Bait
Fresh Black Lug, Blow Lug or Ragworm for the Flatfish &Cod. Launce or fresh Mackerel for the Ray. I have done well for the Bream using long strips of Cuttlefish.

Myself with a Codling taken from
Langton Herring.

Here I am with a lovely shore caught Sole from West Bexington.

Steve Puckey with a near double figure Cod taken at Bridging Camp.
And yes, here I am again with a Black Bream around the 1lb 8oz mark. This one was taken from the Ferrybridge area.
